ABSENCES
- Absences are excused if caused by an illness that precludes the student's attendance, by a death in the immediate family or by prior arrangement with the Academic Office. Any time a student is going to miss school, the parents should contact the school office by 8:00 AM.
- The student is responsible for all missed assignments and tests. (For one-day absences, students should get homework assignments from classmates. For two or more days' absences, parents may call the Academic Office for assignments.) Student must make arrangements with their teachers to make up any test they may have missed. All work will receive credit only if the absence is excused.
- Students returning to school following an absence must present a written excuse if the normal procedure was not followed. The excuse must explain the reason for and give the date(s) of the absence.
|
ABSENCE AND ATHLETIC EVENTS
- Students must attend at least six periods of the school day in order to participate in an athletic event that same day.
|
COLLEGE VISITS - Juniors and seniors are permitted two college visits per year for the purpose of considering the college of their choice.
- For attendance purposes, this type of outing is considered a field trip. However, parents must still notify the Academic Office at least 10 school days before the absence and students must request and complete assignments in advance for days missed.
|
EARLY DISMISSAL - A student who wants to leave the school before the last bell must have a written request from his parents to the Academic Office stating the reason and requested time for dismissal. These written requests must be turned in to the Academic Office before 8:10 AM. (The school is not obligated to allow students to bypass the written request format by calling home for verbal permission, etc.)
- Upon departure, students with written parental permission are to come to the Welcome Center and sign out when they leave the campus and sign in when they return. This includes students leaving and returning during exam days.
- Students who become ill during school hours must come to the office to notify parents.
|
PLANNED ABSENCES - Parents may take their son/daughter out of school when it is judged important enough to do so. If the student will miss more than two days, the student and parent must fill out an Application for Student Leave of Absence during School Year at least 10 school days before the absence.
- The student must complete all the work which will be missed before leaving unless individual teachers have stated otherwise. It is understood that the days the student is absent are charged against the minimum 12 days for the semester. Students who are absent due to field trips, college visits, or other planned absences must complete and submit required work prior to their absence. Such absences do not oblige the teachers to provide make-up exams or quizzes, nor to accept work which is overdue.
