2007 Volleyball Team Displays Effort and Persistence on the Court
Finishing with a record of 10-13 this season, the Royals’ volleyball team met with fierce competition in the PAC league but worked hard to the end in several matches. Whether coming away with the win or not, this year’s team focused on being victorious as a result of how the game was played and not necessarily the final score of the match. Effort and persistence could easily describe the hard-working Royals.
The 2007 varsity team boasted more experience than teams in the past, but still remained young. Freshman Ashlyn Mathoslah provided a welcome addition to the team as a promising outside hitter and strong defensive player. Sophomores Erin Cardis (libero) and Ayanna Coleman (outside hitter) held starting positions as well.
The junior class continues to form the core of the team as Brittany Welsh set records in season aces, defense percentage, and season kills. Morgan Cerveny recorded the most kills for the team as a middle hitter. Cerveny also set the new season-high record for block kills with 56. Junior Dana Papadopoulos also proved to be a vital role player on the Royals’ roster as the setter.
Sole senior Tiffany George provided leadership to the Royals. George played as a middle hitter and recorded several key serves in tight games to put the team on top. Tiffany’s sweet and encouraging spirit will certainly be missed.
The future continues to look promising for the Royals as the team gains experience on the court and continues to learn how to be consistent team players.
