Soccer 2007 Review - Boys' (White)
|
From “the Valley” to the Mountaintop!
The Varsity White Boys Soccer Team concluded their campaign as co-conference champions of the PAC-7! Undefeated in “the valley,” the Royals’ only losses were on the road, when starters John Bobnar, (the team’s leading scorer), Daniel Richards, and John Augustine were out due to illness or injury. As they climbed toward the PAC-7 summit, they engaged Vikings, Trojans, Bulldogs, Warriors, Mustangs, and Panthers. Goalkeepers Vince Mancari and Ryan Cook, along with our Co-Captains, Seniors Denny King and Alex Hulisz, rallied the team to finish the season strong and secure the Conference title. During the team’s ascent, the season changed from summer to autumn. Underclassmen Evan Crocker, Michael Hulisz, and Tim Hudec became more ‘seasoned’ players, as well. They helped juniors Stephen Port, Luke Hall, Daniel Stoddard, and Josh Wheaton sustain the intensity of each match whenever they were called into action. On every field of play, stalwart performances were given by the following starters: Matt Hickin and Brad Adams provided defensive protection; Brian Wilkes delivered high-pressure midfield play; Ryan Wells led the team in assists with high-precision passing, and Stephen Morris delivered goals with counter-attack penetration. Win, lose, or tie, the boys played as a ‘band of brothers’ who, when faced with a mountain did not quit; but kept striving until they reached the top of it. They consistently demonstrated Christian character and stellar sportsmanship, finishing with a record of 12 (W), 2 (L), and 2 (T)!
