CVCA Golfers Record a Successful Season
This year, the CVCA golf team completed another successful season. The Royals’ achievements truly reflected a team effort, with each member contributing as a medalist during the season.
The Royals set a team record with Andrew Staker, Alex Mosteller, Mark Belden, Jacob Forsythe, and Austin Song each scoring an even-par round during the season.
--Andrew Staker, the season’s low scorer with an average of 39.87, shot a one- under at the Elms Country Club.
--Mark Belden scored a hole-in-one at Ellsworth Meadows using an eight iron on the 150-yard seventh hole.
--Brandon Marlowe, the team captain, and Andrew Staker were named to the All-City First Team.
--Mark Belden, Alex Mosteller, and Jacob Forsythe were selected to the All-City Second Team.
--CVCA finished first in the PAC7 with a 12-1 season, losing to Triway by one stroke.
--CVCA finished first in the Sectionals with a team record-low score of 304.
-- At Districts, the team’s score of 329 gave the Royals a seventh-place finish.
Each member of the team grew physically and spiritually throughout the season. The Royals look forward to next year when the varsity team will absorb the talent from the junior-varsity team coached by Dan Pawlak. The JV team also experienced a great year and defended the ACSI title by winning again this year.
Next year promises to be exciting with new and talented golfers filling the spots of the four graduating seniors.
