Lady Royals Basketball Produces Another Successful SeasonThe 2009-2010 women’s basketball team completed another impressive season, finishing 14-7 and 10-4 in the PAC 8 conference (a third-place finish). Playing for the first time at the Division II state level, the Lady Royals were voted third seed at the Uniontown Division II State Tournament.
Throughout the year, the Royals played unselfish basketball, outscoring their opponents by an average of 9.6 points per game. Their stingy defense limited their opponents to 41.5 points per game. This type of team play was made possible by the leadership of senior co-captains Turea Moore and Breanna Hopkins, both four-year letter winners.
Several of the Lady Royals received post season honors—Turea Moore, Honorable Mention Tri-County (Summit, Portage, Medina); junior Eleni Miller, First Team PAC 8, Honorable Mention Tri-County; junior Katie Defer, First Team PAC 8, Honorable Mention Tri-County; sophomore Cassie Wilson, Honorable Mention PAC 8. Many other players added to the depth of the team and made significant contributions this year, including juniors Justine Miller, Nicole Massa, Emily Glenn, and Lisa Worthey; and freshmen Megan Foley and Khrystian McCalister. Congratulations to all the Lady Royals for making this another outstanding basketball season!
